Coastal Clean Up
Horaaaaay… my beaches are clean!!!
Yup… and this is because on July 13th 2008 last month, Reef Check worked together with Surfer Girl, Yayasan GUS, Coca Cola and some other sponsors to initiate a Coastal Clean Up. The event started at 7am on 3 different beaches, Kuta Beach, Mertasari-Sanur Beach and Nusa Lembongan Beach. Tons of different people we’re involved in the event, including environmental awareness organizations, surf companies, people living in Kuta and areas around the event locations.
The event started with everyone helping out to collect rubbish off the beach. After that there was a bazaar and stands introducing products that are environmentally friendly… so after all this and being exhausted… we sat back and relaxed while someone entertained us, yeah… there was Nugie as the highlight of the event with lots of songs about environmental awareness. Awesome!
You know… while this event was going on, Surfer Girl’s very unique ;) waste bins had lots of admirers. The waste bin also reminds us all to always separate our waste; what waste is organic should be separated from non-organic waste. This way the non-organic waste can be easily collected and recycled. This will help so much in reducing waste problems that are now all around us.
To support the Coastal Clean Up, Surfer Girl made really funky bracelets from environmentally friendly materials. The bracelets we’re sold at this event and all proceeds we’re donated to Reef Check. It’s so important to support organizations that are working towards improving the environment. Thanks to all of you who came to the event and helped to work together in supporting this awesome event.
It would be great if this event could happen more often, because of course we all hope to keep our beaches clean and beautiful. Lets work together to keep the environment clean, because if we don’t care now then who will, and when… Remember, Surfer Girl Spirit is caring!
