SURFER GIRL BIG SPLASH 2009:
"The Most Fun All Girls Surf Competition in the World"
If you're a girl, a professional surfer, or a beginner, or simply just a surf lover, you wouldn't have missed the thrill, the vibe, and the FUN at the Halfway Kuta beach last weekend.
Monday, September 28, 2009 - Surfer Girl returned this year with its second annual all girls surf competition ever held in Indonesia. This two day event, which took place on September 24-25, 2009, was part of the annual Kuta Karnival celebration.
Held at the Halfway Kuta beach, there were 4 divisions to compete for, Open Women's Pro, Open Women's Body Board, Fun Surf Contest, and the most popular division of last year, Daddy (or Mommy) & Daughter Tandem. Contestants came from around the world such as Australia, America, South Africa, and also best surfers from Indonesia.
Fun Surf Contest opened the first day with giving opportunity for beginners and kids to show their best skills on the surf board. This division which attracted contestants from early age till adult promised future talented surfers.
For spectators who came just to watch the competition that day, Surfer Girl gave Free Surf Lesson for the first 50 participants. This free surfing lesson was taught directly by professional instructors from Surfer Girl surf school, Surfer Girl School of Fun. Kids were so excited with this free lesson and enjoying their first action on the surf board.
Kuta beach was at its best with promising waves to run the competition on the second day. Open Women's Pro opened the competition with 23 contestants including today's Indonesian best surfers, Stella, Dyah Rahayu, and Bone, and one of the best Japanese surfer, Ayako. The awesome skills of these girl surfers in ripping the waves of Kuta beach drew the amazement of that day's spectators. The judges were troubled in deciding the winner because of the tight scoring.
Five body boarders then competed to win the best title in two heats which each took place for 20 minutes. By showing their best spins on the waves, they were fighting to earn the highest score.
Finally, the most awaited division, Daddy (or Mommy) & Daughter Tandem received the most applause when these family surfers entertained the spectators with their attractive performances. Together they rode the waves and once in a while daddies lifted their daughter while surfing which drew more applause and astonishment screams from spectators. These daddies really knew the best way to surf with their beloveds.
Throughout the competition, Surfer Girl also entertained spectators with Fun Games such as Hula hop contest, dancing, and gave away awesome gifts, with shades for those who didn't want to get suntanned, all kind of food and beverage tents, and the rocking music, gave the most FUN way for all.
"I love Surfer Girl" commented Leta, when she was awarded for her success to win the fourth place for the Fun Surf Contest and the third place for Daddy (or Mommy) & Daughter Tandem.
Once again, Surfer Girl gave their words to give the best all girls surf competition ever held in Indonesia!
